With all of the security issues we had this week, I spent a little extra time trying to figure out how to make our websites are little more antisocial. One of the biggest things I needed our WordPress sites to do was to simply block most traffic coming from specific countries. Although there are some pretty good paid plug-ins, I was looking for something that could be used for free. It also had to be simple to use. Right now, my favorite plug-in that does all of these things is called IQ Block Country.

As you can see from the screenshot, this plug-in is very simple to use.
- Press the button to download a copy of the database to your website
- Choose the countries you want to block
Now, this is going to block all traffic from every country. Spammers and hackers are a lot smarter than that. But, this is going to go a long way toward reducing the number of hackers that can find your website.
